The best place in Kashmir where you can indulge in River Rafting is in River Lidder near Pahalgam. The river hosts the two different stretches, which are quite suitable for river rafting. International & National level Rafting Championships have also been recently organised. Commercial Rafting has been introduced in Pahalgam & Sonamarg. Rafting in Ladakh & Zanskar is more demanding, and some stretches on Indus & Zanskar rivers requires one to be professionally trained.
A range of rafting options is available on the Indus and its major tributaries. The best stretch for professionally guided runs in white water is on the Indus between Spituk and Saspol. Beyond Saspol, the river becomes difficult and funning it requires technically skilled participants and careful organisation..
